Why TNA is making strides... Kinda.

Howdy common fans. Apologies for the brief hiatus, I visited the fiance' in Nashville, TN and after a great little vacation I'm back to the Sunshine State. This will be brief as I shake off the rust and catch up with the current happenings around the wrestling world so bear with me. Speaking of Nashville though, I have to admit that I've been watching TNA more lately. Why? I'm not to sure but I'm going to get to the bottom of this!

So I've watch two full TNA broadcasts plus Reaction shows and here's what I enjoyed from each;

8/19/10

*Kurt Angle vs. Doug Williams. This was a great match between two mat technicians. I can't wait to actually see a match that goes longer than a few minutes where these guys can really shine. An excellent tease to say the least.

*The Opening/Ending segments. While not perfect and a bit exaggerated at times, I at least enjoyed where it was leading to. I dig any type of tournament, although it's a shame that the ranking system seems to have been pushed to the side.

8/26/10

*The opening segment. It wasn't horrible and Dixie was a pleasant surprise in the ring with Flair. But in the end Flair just came off pathetic in my eyes, and thankfully his young stable and their altercations to setup the main event were done pretty well. I'm at least interested in how they develop, unlike the EV2.0 group.

*Motor City Machine Guns vs. Generation Me. Absolutely awesome display of tag team wrestling. Granted it was short, but fantastic while it lasted.

Honestly, that's not much. But let's face it, it's better than it was a few months ago for me personally. Reaction also has me relatively interested as it's a different take on the product. Flawed? Sure, but what isn't really with wrestling today? It holds my attention and is at least a bit different then what's offered with most wrestling programming. I really enjoyed the segments with the MCMGs and Brutus Magnus to be honest and hope that more like them hold my interest in future offerings. It seems to give the viewers a reason to care about the people involved. And for that I give TNA a kudos.

Don't get me wrong, TNA has not been fantastic. Far from it for my personal taste. But when I tend to look at the clock to see if it's 9 PM yet so I can catch Impact!, that's not a bad thing. I mean, let's face it, if you love wrestling chances are you're still going to watch even if the product sucks. I wouldn't call TNA the worst wrestling show on TV as ROH has it's issues (Which I may get into more a bit next week) and MTV 2 has a gem of a show as well. That's sarcasm by the way peeps. >.<

TNA is definitely making strides. Sure we may ask ourselves a thousand questions during their 3-hour block and the plot holes may be massive (I don't want to see a bloody horror movie scene, thanks) but again, it's just professional wrestling. And at least their not afraid to call it that once in a while. So there you have it, your perspective from a common fan.
